TROPICANA PARTNERS WITH THE LOST FOOD PROJECT TO FIGHT HUNGER
● Tropicana Foundation donated 300kg of fish from Tropicana Golf & Country Resort to The
Lost Food Project.
● The donation supports six charity organisations reaching out to vulnerable communities
across Malaysia.
● Tropicana Foundation also donated 180 care packs in support of the Founders Cup 2022, organised by the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf Foundation
“Hunger is a growing global concern as supply chain disruptions affect food prices and availability. Despite this, more than 4,000 tonnes of avoidable food waste are generated in Malaysia each day. We remain consistent in our efforts to tackle this social issue by partnering with TLFP, as well as our subsidiary Tropicana Golf & Country Resort and agriculture arm Greenhouse Farm & Fishery, for the distribution of surplus fish stock to those in need, in line with Tropicana’s commitment to Redefining the Art of Caring throughout its townships and vertical communities,” he said.
The donated fish comprised tilapia stock, a low-calorie food source packed with protein and nutrients such as vitamin B12 and selenium, which play an essential role in immune system function. The donated tilapia were carefully cleaned and vacuum-packed to preserve freshness prior to distribution
Founded in 2015, TLFP has rescued over 2.8 million kilogrammes of surplus food to date from going to landfills, channelling them towards more than 55 charity partners and numerous B40 communities across Malaysia.
In addition to its collaboration with TLFP, Tropicana Foundation also donated 180 care packs to the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf Foundation (“TSMCGF”), in conjunction with the Founders Cup 2022 tournament held at the Kota Permai Golf & Country Club. Distributed to tournament participants and volunteers, the care packs included healthy baked goods, cutlery sets, mineral water and recycled bags.
Established with the goal of generating charity through golf, TSMCGF supports a range of humanitarian causes, including the setup of a dialysis centre for the underprivileged as well as annual blood donation drives. Most recently, it reached out to aid over 60,000 families, as well as the B40 community and flood victims following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tropicana’s partnerships with TLFP and TSMCGF underscore its commitment to engaging with and uplifting underprivileged segments of society, as part of its sustainable approach to environmental, social and corporate governance (“ESG”) principles.
