Offering More Than 700 Sustainable Products and Inculcating a Recycling Program In-Store in collaboration with the Waste Management Association of Malaysia
In conjunction with Watsons 29 years in Malaysia, Watsons Malaysia recently revealed its first greener concept store at The Tropika, Bukit Jalil with more than 700 sustainable products available. The greener store is an initiative in the market to promote more sustainable efforts.
“Watsons Malaysia wants to take the lead in evolving our business approach towards sustainability and global movement to nature. We are committed to driving meaningful change and sustainable culture in the everyday operations of our retail stores. This first green concept store is a milestone for Watsons Malaysia and building a greener store is an important part of our journey. We will continue to explore innovative technologies in store construction and operations to promote sustainable development,” said Caryn Loh, Managing Director, Watsons Malaysia.
The Greener Store in Tropika Bukit Jalil Watsons store span 1,922 square feet, features green sustainable materials, reused modular furniture with advanced energy efficiency through eco-friendly air conditioning and store lighting panels and is equipped with a wide range of exclusive sustainable products and services.
With the launch of Sustainable Choices in 2021, four pillars have been introduced to help customers to lead a more sustainable lifestyle and to choose the most sustainable products available at Watsons. The four pillars are Clean Beauty, Better Ingredients, Better Packaging and Refill which is also made available at Watsons Greener Store. Besides that, the store also includes a refill station for Naturals by Watsons, in-store engagement activities, O+O shopping and many more.
Aside from its wide variety of sustainable products, the greener store launched its first in-store recycling program in collaboration with the Waste Management Association of Malaysia (WMAM). This program enables shoppers to take part in becoming responsible by donating used packaging materials purchased at Watsons. This effort is to achieve a sustainable solution through a circular economy. Click here to find out more about the recycling programme.
Caryn added, “This program will enable our shoppers to inculcate the recycling culture in their lifestyle. To kickstart this program we are encouraging our customers to bring in any of Watsons Brand packaging where they will be rewarded with a RM5 Watsons voucher.”
