U Mobile Drives Adoption Of 5g-enabled Smart Solutions For Farming Through Latest Collaboration With Braintree Technologies

• U Mobile and Braintree Technologies sign an MoU to collaborate on developing and deploying 5G-enabled smart farming solutions to transform Malaysia's agriculture sector

U Mobile, Malaysia’s second 5G network provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Braintree Technologies, an agriculture robots & AI data platform company, that will see the two parties collaborate to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative 5G-enabled solutions, with the aim to progress the digital transformation of Malaysia’s agriculture sector.

The partnership will leverage U Mobile’s next gen network and Braintree Technologies’ advanced smart farming robotic systems to create integrated solutions that enhance connectivity, improve resource management, and promote sustainable farming practices. Both parties will demonstrate use cases to spur adoption, such as Precision Farming for better crop conditions monitoring, Autonomous Machinery for enhanced cost and operational efficiency, Remote Monitoring and Management using IoT systems for comprehensive supervision, Data Analytics and AI for superior risk mitigation, as well as utilising AR and VR to enhance knowledge sharing and operational training in innovative ways.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Neil Tomkinson and Arif Makhdzir at the Malaysian Pavilion during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. The signing was witnessed by YB Puan Teo Nie Ching, Malaysian Deputy Minister of Communications and Dato' Sri Dr. Chee Hong Leong, Commission Member of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
